1 DAY LEFT We are finally at the end of the countdown! TOMORROW is Jamia’s BIG DAY GUYS! For day one, I want to ask all of you fans… If you could give Jamia ONE gift for her 13th birthday tomorrow, what would it be? Share your special gift ideas and why you would give her that particular gift! Remember, just ONE special gift!

   I would give Jamia an African beaded necklace made from precious African stones and cowrie shells in a white jewelry box. When I was 13, I participated in this rite of passage ceremony. It’s similar to the Bar/Bat Mitzvahs that Jewish people have when they turn 13. It was a coming of age celebration in transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, and in christianity it’s the age of reasoning, which means that you are old enough to understand the moral consequences for our actions and can be held accountable for our sins. When I received my gift, I felt proud and honored that I was making this step that meant that I was maturing culturally and spirtiually, and I knew that a gift like that couldn’t be worn by someone who was younger, because it wouldn’t be appropriate. If I could Jamia a gift like that, I would hope that she would feel the same way I did, and wear the necklace with pride.

   That’s such a special gift Jamesa!!

   I think I would get Jamia a journal… a journal so that she can record and keep all of her special memories and experiences of her new journey of life starting as a teenager. Keeping a journal could be very special and when she gets even older, she can look back at it and see how much she has changed since then.

   I’ve always liked keeping journals and notebooks with special pens and accessories haha. I think Jamia would like that too!

   I agree with both Jamesa and Crystal! and I keep a journal now and write in it all the time! I would probably give Jamia a digital camera!(if she doesnt already have one lol) its nothing major but it comes in handy and she could capture all those fun moments you spend with family/friends! She could also record videos and just have fun and her and Olivia could take pics and record all day!

    If i could give you any give on your 13th birthday i would give you luv and support though all your future challenges and accomplishments because that’s all everyone really needs luv and support though life’s challenges. ( Atleast that’s all i really need now that i just turned 14 (August 9th. GO LEO’S) and i’m going to highschool in like 2 weeks i’m going to need all the luv and support i can get).
